The Excellent Gay Stars in the Film "A Knock at the Cabin," Ryan Field Books

The Gay Stars in the Film “A Knock at the Cabin” and the Straight Guy Who Wrote It

Unlike most films being made nowadays with gay content, A Knock at the Cabin does something completely unusual. They actually hired openly gay actors to play gay roles. When you consider films like Call Me by Your Name, and, The Whale, where straights play gay, A Knock at the Cabin might be one of the most innovative films of all time so far.

Think about it. Openly gay actors getting paid to play openly gay characters. Why it’s almost ingenious.

But sadly, there’s a catch. From what I can gather with many searches, the film is based on a novel written by a straight white man, Paul Tremblay. He’s very secretive about this, and you have to search for a while. But I came up with this.

There’s always a catch. I think it’s great they hired openly gay actors, but I won’t be watching this one either. No other marginalized group would put up with someone with this kind of privilege writing their stories. So why should I?  I know too many really excellent openly gay authors writing in the horror genre.

Here’s more.   If I’m wrong about any of this I will update and correct.

There’s this, also.

Uncertainty on Amazon

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no-nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”
