Stephen Baldwin: Pray Gay Away
The Rising From the Ashes is a conference where different ministries get together to promote the concept of “freedom from homosexuality through Jesus Christ.” Actor Stephen Baldwin recently defended his choice to speak at the conference.
“I wouldn’t say that my message is, ‘You can pray the gay away,'” Baldwin said. “Literally, some of my best friends in the world are gay, and they know I’m evangelical and I know they’re gay, and we love each other and respect each other in that way.”
The problem with this mind set is that is suggests there’s a choice in whether or not you are gay. And most gay people you talk to, including me, will tell you that’s just not the case. And if it were, wouldn’t that mean straight people could actually pray to become gay? It only stands to reason.
The fact is straight people don’t choose to be straight. They just are. They know this from the time they are children.
It works the same with gays.
I think Stephen Baldwin should pray more for not being so creepy.
Flipping the Bird in Prague
We’re not the only people with political issues here in the US. It seems there are a few issues in Prague, too, to the point where a Czech artist who is anti-communist decided to create a big purple sculpture of a hand that’s flipping the bird to Czech communist leaders.
David Cerny’s giant purple hand, extending an oversized middle finger, was placed on a pontoon on the Vltava river Monday, near the famed Charles Bridge and visible from Prague Castle, the seat of the presidency.
We should commission him here in the US next time there’s a government shut down to do something similar on the Potomac and point it directly toward Capital Hill.
