Scottish Pride Event Bans Drag Queens

Here’s something I’ve never seen happen before, and I’ve seen my share of Pride events.

Free Pride Glasgow – which was set up as an “anti-commercialist” alternative to the main Pride Glasgow event – made the decision ahead of the event next month, claiming that despite drag being a uniquely celebrated part of most Prides, they would not be welcome to perform at Free Pride.

You can read more about it here. It goes into a lot more detail about “cross-dressing as a mode of fancy dress.” And Pride Glasgow responded with a statement of their own as well.

“Pride Glasgow believes that any community group should be given their place to flourish but that success should not be built on the negativity and ignorance towards other events, groups and like minded people and we are saddened to see that this is the direction that Free Pride has chosen to take.”

Jim Parsons Falls On Broadway Stage

I’m glad this wasn’t serious, but I can’t help wonder why they didn’t have an under study just in case something like this happened.

Jim Parsons has reportedly taken the old theatrical “break a leg” tradition a little too close for comfort.

During a matinee performance of The Boys in the Band revival on Broadway Saturday, the out Big Bang Theory star tripped on stage while walking out to take his bow.

Here’s more. They had to cancel the Saturday night performance and some theater goers were not pleased.

NY Firefighter Forced To Have Sex With Stripper

It’s hard to believe this kind of thing still happens, but it obviously does happen.

A former firefighter from Queens claims his colleagues demanded he “have sex with a stripper” to prove he wasn’t gay, now he’s filed a federal discrimination lawsuit against the FDNY.
24-year-old Michael Troina alleges his colleagues at Ladder Co 1/Engine Co 7 subjected him to vicious “hazing rituals” that included racist and homophobic abuse, stomping on his bunker gear, smearing peanut butter on his car, and superimposing his face on a picture of a crying baby.

Check it out, here. According to this piece, when he refused sex with a stripper the anti-gay pejoratives came out in full force.
