FREE Gay Books

When I say I’m not great at promotion, here’s a good example.

Yesterday I posted about book sales and freebies and I actually forgot to list one of the books that is for free. I’ll rectify that right now. Also, I got the dates wrong. Not by much, but they’re wrong.

So here are the correct dates. I give the go ahead for freebies and promos, but I don’t actually set these things up. My tech person does and I follow directions…as best I can.

The Rainbow Detective Agency Box Set…It’s the first four books in the series in one digital box set…four books in one. There is a new one coming out this month and I’m working on another right now. This will be discounted to $4.99 from October 1 to the 5th for non KU members. It’s also FREE with Kindle Unlimited (KU).

Meadows Are Not Forever…This one is a full length gay romance novel that is free with Kindle Unlimited and will be FREE for everyone else from October 1 to the 5th.

The Women Who Love to Love Gay Romance...I’m working on putting this on up for free all the time. Right now it is for free until the 5th…for everyone. I’ll post more on the future of this one.

Signing Off On Pope Francis

Update: As expected by many, there’s a new twist to the story of Pope Francis meeting that woman. From Towerload…
“The Pope did not enter into the details of the situation of Mrs. Davis and his meeting with her should not be considered a form of support of her position in all of its particular and complex aspects,” Lombardi said in a statement….

I’m not certain we’ll ever get the real story.

I feel terrible for the people who have been hurt and disappointed by Pope Francis. It’s so bad that still, even yesterday, gay people I know were doubting whether or not the Pope actually met with Kim Davis in secret. They obviously didn’t believe the NYT and every other reputable news agency and they wanted MORE proof…as if the Vatican will come out and give a press conference.

Or, they just don’t want to believe it.

It’s just sad to read things like this and my heart really does go out to anyone who just found out what I found out about the Catholic Church years ago.

By choosing to meet with Kim Davis, the reigning pin-up queen of homophobia, Pope Francis has sent the clearest possible signal about where he stands when it comes to LGBT rights. In doing so, he vaporized the good will that he generated during his visit to the U.S. last week. As turns out, all those friendly-sounding statements were little more than a distraction from the Vatican’s hard-core disapproval of all things gay.

More Here.

It’s a good piece with many excellent comments. Basically, a lot of people are signing off on Pope Francis after his secret meeting with Kim Davis. As well they should.

Gay Tenacity In the Face of Struggle

Here’s something the good old Pope should read. It’s a story about how a gay teen turned his life around in one year after he was thrown out of his house for being gay.

I’m sure I posted about it when it happened. It’s nice to see a positive follow up for a change.

In August of last year, two of the world’s worst parents were caught on camera physically assaulting their gay son, just moments after banishing him from their home over what they believed to be his “chosen” and “ungodly” sexuality.

The story goes on to talk about how he raised money through crowdfunding and survived on his own, and then gave some of that money to others who needed it as much as he did.

A very touching story, Pope Francis, about survival and gay tenacity. You can read more here.

Kim Davis Is Free; First Gay Police Wedding; Father of Gay Student Beaten Speaks Out

Kim Davis Is Free

Kim Davis was released from jail yesterday and Gov. Mike Huckabee was there by her side supporting her. I also read she’ll be returning to work by Friday and no one knows how she’s going to deal with issuing marriage licenses to same sex couples. From what I gather to be true, the people in her office are not required to follow her orders on the matter any longer.

“Thank you all so much. I love you all so very much,” she told the crowd. “I just want to give God the glory. His people have rallied, and you are a strong people! We serve a living God who knows exactly where each and every one of us is at. Keep on pressing. Don’t let down. Because He is here and He is worthy.” The He she’s referring to is GOP presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, who came to town to troll for votes introduce the woman whose homophobia he bizarrely compared to Lincoln’s fight against slavery. We’re not sure we’d call him “worthy,” Kimbo.

I also believe it to be true that Huckabee wasn’t trolling for votes. He was there because he hates the concept of gay marriage and because he’s such a religious zealot he can’t help himself.  Unfortunately, he doesn’t seem to understand the way government works…or he’s interpreting it to work a certain way, according to his biased religious beliefs. And that’s where it gets dangerous. Because if Kim Davis’ civil rights were being violated in any way the very people she’s fighting would be the first ones to support her. For example, if another county clerk who belongs to a religion that doesn’t believe in divorce denied Kim Davis a marriage license for her next husband…because she’s been divorced several times…people who believe in equality would be supporting her. That’s what equal rights are about. As for her religious convictions, she should keep them confined to church, not government…or seek emotional counseling by a qualified professional.

First Gay Police Wedding

I think this is more about the first public gay police wedding in the world. I find it hard to believe no other gay cop has gotten married before this.

In any event, it’s nice to see.

Two gay policemen tied the knot in Spain over the weekend and the whole world is celebrating with them.

The couple, who are being referred to as Chema and Jonathan by Spanish media, were married in Jerez de la Frontera on September 5 while dressed in their full police uniforms, in what many believe is a world first.

More here, and the article goes on to mention they’re hoping this might inspire others who are still in the closet. And trust me they are there. I’ve been going back and forth with a guy who e-mails me that I’ve never even met all week hoping to help get him through the nightmare of a closeted life he’s living. There’s really nothing I can do but listen. You can’t draw conclusions for people. They have to draw those conclusions for themselves.

Father of Gay Student Beaten Speaks Out

The father of a gay student in North Dakota who was allegedly beaten by some guys in a fraternity is now talking about it publicly. The police are still investigating the incident.

“To have four guys jump you, strip you of your clothes and your dignity, and then whip you with a belt like an animal — if that’s not a hate crime I don’t know what a hate crime is,” he told Nicole Johnson of local NBC affiliate KVLY.

“You’re going to run across people who are homophobic anywhere you go. At least there are some good people around that campus that night who were willing to step up,” he continued.

What does he want for those accused?

“What do I want to see happen? I’m a parent — you don’t want to know what I want to see happen to them.”

I’m with the father on that one. Beat the hell out of them so they never do this to another single gay person again.  You can read more here.
