Gay Ear Wax
There’s yet another study out that claims ear wax can determine someone’s sexual orientation. And this study is an offshoot from one about arm pit odors and sexual orientation. I’m not joking.
They say new tests could be developed to prove identification, like similar tests that have been done with odors from people’s armpits.
‘Our previous research has shown that underarm odors can convey a great deal of information about an individual, including personal identity, gender, sexual orientation, and health status,’ said study senior author George Preti, PhD, an organic chemist at Monell.
‘We think it possible that earwax may contain similar information.’

Italian Trans Arrested in Sochi
I think I may have posted about Vladimir Luxuria, Italy’s first transgender elected official, in the past. And now she’s made headlines again for allegedly being arrested in Sochi for swinging a rainbow banner that states, “Gay Is Ok.”
‘I’m in Sochi,’ the Twitter caption said, in a McClatchy translation. ‘Regards with the colors of the rainbow, in the face of Putin!’ Russian authorities have apparently arrested her.
According to the McClatchy report Luxuria called an Italian activist organization called the Gay Project.
At least someone is doing something to protest what’s happening in Russia with gays.
Kansas Anti-Gay Bill
There’s a bill in Kansas that states anyone can openly refuse gays services or products based on religious beliefs. In other words, good Christians…or anyone highly religious where gay is taboo…can shun gays, promote hate, and get away with it legally. And now Kansas Republican leader, Susan Wagle, is having second thoughts.
Susan Wagle, the Republican president of the Senate, has raised objections to the bill, House Bill 2453, that has already cleared the House of Representatives by a 72-49 majority. In a statement, she said that despite strong support among the 32 Republican state senators for traditional marriage, “I’ve grown concerned about the practical impact of the bill… My members also don’t condone discrimination. If we cannot find ample common ground to ease legitimate concerns, I believe a majority of my caucus will not support the bill.”
All this is a direct result to keep the ban on same-sex marriage in these mainly southern states. But I really hate to single out southern states because I live in Pennsylvania and we’re still fighting for our equal rights, too.
Under the terms of HB 2453, any person or religious entity with sincerely held religious beliefs would be able, without fear of legal consequences, to refuse to “provide any services, accommodations, advantages, facilities, goods, or privileges; provide counseling, adoption, foster care and other social services; or provide employment or employment benefits, related to, or related to the celebration of, any marriage, domestic partnership, civil union or similar arrangement”.
I could be snide and say, “Well I’ll never go there so could cares.” But the reality, and the problem, with that statement is that I would bet there are as many gay people in Kansas as there are in any other state in the US. We just don’t hear about them as much, and rightly so. If they are living under these conditions it makes perfect sense to remain living in secluded fear.
