Katherine Heigl’s Gay Marriage Movie, IFC; Colin Farrell Blasts Catholic Church; Ten Walls’ Homophobic Rant

Katherine Heigl’s Gay Marriage Movie, IFC

This is interesting because it received funding from Indiegogo…I think for final production costs.

IFC Films has acquired U.S. rights to Katherine Heigl’s gay-marriage dramedy “Jenny’s Wedding” and set a July 31 release date, Variety has learned exclusively.

Mary Agnes Donoghue directed the film from her own script. “Jenny’s Wedding,” which will make its world premiere July 10 at Outfest Los Angeles, also stars Tom Wilkinson and Linda Emond, as the parents of Heigl’s title character, as well as Grace Gummer, Alexis Bledel, Sam McMurray and Diana Hardcastle.

Heigl’s character leads an openly gay life — except with her conventional family. When she finally decides to start a family of her own and marry the woman they thought was just her roommate, their relationships become forever changed.

I think it’s safe to say this topic is still very relevant and will be for at least the rest of our lifetimes.

Colin Farrell Blasts Catholic Church

Colin Farrell, who has an openly gay brother, recently made a few comments about the Catholic Church and their opposition to gay marriage in Ireland. Farrell is also Irish.

“It was really funny because one of the arguments when the vote went through was that the church came out and said, ‘You know, this was a dark day for Ireland,’ and all you could see was literally rainbows everywhere, posters of rainbows, T-shirts of rainbows, men and women hugging, men and men hugging, women and women hugging, and yet cut to, ‘This is a dark day in the history of [Ireland],'” the Irish actor, 39, told E! News this weekend.
“A dark day in the history of a country is internal civil conflict and war and bloodshed,” the father of two added. “It was a great day.”
I’ve read in various places the main issue the Catholic church has with the vote in Ireland is that the Church doesn’t dominate Ireland anymore. The people spoke this time, without influence from the Church. The Church doesn’t like losing that kind of control. I know this because I went to Catholic school. I don’t have any grand horror stories to repeat and I think I got a better education. I actually didn’t hate school. But I do wonder what Sister Teresa Immaculata might think about this vote in Ireland.
Ten Walls’ Homophobic Rant
You know, I saw a few tweets about this today and I didn’t even know who the hell Ten Walls was. So I didn’t pay much attention to it until I saw this:

Lithuanian producer Marijus Adomaitis, aka Ten Walls, has been dropped from two upcoming music festivals and drawn criticism from the LGBT community after posting a homophobic rant on his Facebook page. As the Guardian notes, the message, which has since been deleted, compared gay people to pedophiles.

“I remember producing music for one Lithuanian musician, who tried to wash my brain that I don’t need to be so conservative and intolerant about them,” wrote the musician, who rose to prominence in the UK last year with his song “Walking with Elephants”. “When I asked him ‘what would you do if you realised that your 16-year-old son’s browny (anus) is ripped by his boyfriend?’ Well he was silent.”

Ten Walls also added “the good 90s … these people of different breed where [sic] fixed.” It was his final comments, however, that were especially offensive, as he likened gay sex to pedophiliac abuse by Catholic priests.

You can check out more here…and there is more. There are links to his Twitter account, and his Facebook account. He’s since apologized, however, that damage seems to have been done.
