“Looking” Final Episode
Here’s some information about HBO’s final episode of Looking.
The hugely anticipated wrap-up for Looking, the sometimes polarizing dramedy that aired for two seasons on HBO, will premiere June 26th at the gorgeous and historic Castro Theater in San Francisco, where the series was set and filmed. The screening will provide the closing night for the city’s influential queer film festival Frameline. The full program for annual fest the will be announced May 23, but here’s a preview listing for the Looking swan song to whet your appetite.
You can read more about this here. I was one of those who happened to love Looking. For the first time on TV, I found a show that I could relate to. It wasn’t Modern Family or Will and Grace. Looking was a TV show that depicted a certain segment of gay men accurately, and without apology. Unfortunately, it didn’t last long. And I think that has a lot to do with the way society in general has changed. How many people are actually willing to pay for HBO these days? Most people I know have unplugged from cable completely and they stream…all ages, too.
Arranged Gay Marriages In India
This is a little misleading because it’s not about parents arranging marriages, in the old tradition of many cultures. This is more about a web site that’s calling itself “Arranged Gay Marriage”…which is really a matching making site. The article itself is interesting, though.
OK, how do we feel about arranged same-sex marriages? According to a fascinating new article from PRI, arranged marriages are gradually making its way into the Indian LGBT community, albeit with some bumps in the road as a tradition adjusts to modern realities.
But it gets a lot more complicated with legal issues and I’d rather not comment in such a short post. You really should read it. The rest of the article is here.
Jarec Wentworth Speaks Out From Prison
This is about a porn star with Sean Cody named Jarec Wentworth who was involved with some kind of extortion thing. I posted about that a while ago and I’m too lazy to link now. The article tells you everything you need to know. He’s alleging there is a conspiracy going on. Again, not something I’m willing to comment on.
“My attorneys didn’t fight the case as I told them to. They didn’t question witnesses how they were supposed to. I told them to ask the questions I was writing down [during trial], only for them to say ‘No, no, we got this.’ FML. They were in on it, too.”
Here’s the rest. I actually do believe that anything is possible these days.
The comments are as you would imagine…mean.
