Fed Court Gay Marriage

In another step closer to legal same sex marriage a Federal Appeals Court in Denver ruled that Gays have a constitutional right to marry.

The three-judge panel in Denver ruled 2-1 that states cannot deprive people of the fundamental right to marry simply because they choose a partner of the same sex.

The court dismissed as “wholly illogical” the notion that allowing gays to wed could somehow undermine traditional marriage.

Of course this ruling is on hold pending appeal. But it’s still one more victory.

High School Boy Gay

This is what I’ve been hoping to see happen more often. A junior in high school, Jack L. Thorne, came out of the closet to family and in public on social media. He’s also the winner of three state swimming championships in Colorado.

‘Nothing has changed, I’m still the same Jack, the same Jack you race, the same Jack who you carpool with, the same Jack screaming for you on the side of the pool,’ he writes.

The interesting thing about this I think is important to point out is that most LGBTI people knew they were gay in high school, or years earlier.

I’m glad it’s getting better, I’m glad that kids like Jack are coming out, and I’m hoping this makes life easier for this generation of LGBTI people than it was for mine. We took the shit, and we took it from small town low rent asswipes like Theresa Santai-Gaffney.

Gays Welcomed by Royalty

The king and queen of Spain recently welcomed gay leaders at an official reception. The royals believe the work these gay leaders have done should be recognized.

In all, King Felipe and Queen Letizia invited 350 organizations and charities involved with social causes to royal El Pardo palace. Among them were Boti Garcia, president of Spain’s State Federation of Lesbians, Gays, Transsexuals and Bisexuals, and José María Núñez-Blanco, president of the Triangle Foundation.

These royals are new monarchs who just took the throne. But that may or may not be relevant. Queen Elizabeth has also shown a great deal of support to the LBGTI community as well.
