Author Spotlight Ryan Field

I’ve been on most social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter since they started. I found them through the original source of social networking, which at one time was blogging. And during all this time on social media, I’ve come across some really great people, especially in the book community. One of whom recently did an author spotlight on me, which came completely out of the blue.

The web site is called Alp Mortal, and here’s a link to the about page, with a nice photo of the owner. One of the things I love most is that someone in the gay community is doing something like this.

He recently did a “spotlight” page that focused on me, and I couldn’t have been more humbled and thrilled. I particularly love this form of social media because it brings me back to my roots of blogging and real online interaction with people. I think it’s as close as you can get to RL interaction.

Dating a Bi Guy

In this article, they make it sound as if there are no huge revelations with regard to dating a bi guy, but you’ll see below that may or may not be true. I’m honestly not sure because I’m not that familiar with anyone who is bi.

This just in: Bisexuals are really no different from anyone else. And before you say anything — yes, the above picture is not an accurate representation. But hey, it got your attention (our’s too).

And yet there are misconceptions about being bi that come up again and again — that they’re gay and haven’t realized it yet, oversexed, confused or incapable of intimacy.

You can check it out here, where there’s a series of memes with quotes.

It’s interesting because a lot of the quotes talk about open relationships, and lack of trust. The thing I never fully understood, and I wish it were explained better in articles like this, is whether or not bi guys can be totally monogamous and not in open relationships. In other words, even though they are bi they don’t get a free pass to have sex with whomever they want if they are in relationships. I can’t really comment because I just don’t know how it works, and I rarely see anyone talk about it openly.

Gay Hook Up Culture Photo Series

Here’s an interesting, open, take on sex, hook up culture, and art. I think it’s combined well, and the series looks fascinating, and the photographer, Kirk Lorenzo, zoomed in on an interesting reality.

“These models are men that I hook up with via dating apps,” Lorenzo, who is currently enrolled at the School of The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, tells Queerty. “To give reference to that I thought it important to not include their faces.”

The photos are really excellent, and I think they’re SFW.

Olly Alexander’s Essay

Olly Alexander recently wrote an essay about being openly gay and working in the music industry. I think what he’s basically getting at here is that there should be more romance for everyone, including gay people…the kind of romance with which we can identify. And in the same respect, not taking anything away from hetero romance.

I like the way this is worded…it’s bringing people together into one grand mainstream concept, not separating them.

He qualifies the video is not about putting sex between people of the same gender above heterosexual sex, but about making them equal.

‘Whoever it is, two women, two men, a group of gender-queer people, it’s all cute.
