It seems like there’s another “WTF” coming out each day thanks to social media. And this time it’s all about gay hook up abbreviations.

What it really means: You’re hot.

What it means: Hurry up.
What it really means: I’m horny.

And there are 17 more here just like these. Some you already know, some I’ve never seen before. And I have a feeling there are a lot more of these coming soon.

Kathy Griffin and Joan Rivers’ Legacy

I’m not sure why this is considered gay news, but it’s been in all the gay presses so I figured I’d pass it along. Joan Rivers daughter, Melissa Rivers, who is out promoting a new book recently made a comment about how Kathy Griffin shit on her mom’s legacy. I think everyone knows that Kathy Griffin took over for Joan on The Fashion Police, and then quit abruptly, with a statement I found rather generous. I saw the statement on Twitter the day Griffin made it and I didn’t think she was slamming Rivers or her legacy. It sounded as if she was doing what was best for her own career. If you do a simple search you can read more about all that. I’m only posting about what Melissa River said.

My biggest complaint was the feeling that she kind of shit all over my mother’s legacy in her statement on leaving. And I know that was not an intentional reading of it, but that’s how I felt. …By calling the comedy and the style of it old fashioned. It was like, I understand what you were doing, you’re trying to save yourself, but don’t crap all over my mother to do it. That was very personal. But as a professional, that was her choice, that’s what she did. No hard, no foul, moving on.”

I don’t remember the exact post where I mentioned this same topic not too long ago, so I can’t link to it. But I basically made a point of stating that comedy evolves over time, and that what people found funny in 1910 was not considered funny in 1960, and so on. And that’s just the way things evolve in general. So although I loved Joan Rivers’ brand of humor because it was smart…I don’t think it was always completely relevant in the latter years when compared to today’s standards of comedy. The gay references Joan Rivers made for one thing really bothered me. The days of the gay man playing the pet poodle are coming to an abrupt end. And I don’t think that’s a slam against Joan Rivers. I think it’s just stating a plain and simple truth. Comedy changes; the world moves on.

Gay In Uganda

The man gets a disturbing smile on his face as he yells, “Kill! You kill that one! Woman and woman we rape, but man and man we kill.”

And it only devolves from there. But you really have to read the comments to understand how a good deal of this gay hate has transpired, thanks to Evangelical Christians. I’ve posted about that, too, but I can’t remember how I tagged it. Here’s one comment about a topic that doesn’t get too much attention.
