Max Emerson’s Gay New York Summer

This article is a little misleading. Not totally misleading, but a little. It talks about things gay men can do in New York during the summertime. The truth is most of the gay men I know leave New York every weekend for places like Fire Island, The Hamptons, New Hope…or even Provincetown. Many go to the Jersey shore, just like straight people, or to other parts of Cape Cod. But if you don’t live in NY, and you are going there for a visit this summer, it’s actually a pretty good article.

Summer in NYC is a hot, sticky blur of rooftops, nights on the town, and weekend trips to the beach. Sun decks and pools stay packed to capacity with the din of cutting edge music filling the background and boys flirting. As long as you avoid the touristy spots (and I’m here to help you do that), New York Summer is guaranteed to be one of the best you’ve ever had.

Colton Haynes and Daddies

Here’s one of those typical links in a gay press where they show photos of hot guys and comment in that snarky bitchy queen way they think is so cool. It’s really not all that cool anymore, but the photos are good and you don’t actually have to read the comments if you don’t want to read them.

And Colton Haynes is clearly into daddies. Here he is playing tennis with his old pal, Teen Wolf actor Ian Bohen.

And they threw a little shade at Steve Grand, because Grand once went on a rant about how the gay presses objectify him in shirtless photos and skimpy tight pants.  I like Grand and I like his music. I like what he’s done, and I honestly don’t care what he wears. I think the way he spoke up was refreshing.

Number Of Trans People Doubles

This is something that doesn’t surprise me. It probably should, but most of the trans people I’ve known in my lifetime have always gone under the proverbial radar. And many weren’t even out and open about it…for obvious reasons.

But now that seems to be changing, and this is only an estimated number. I think there are more.

There are 1.4 million adults who identify as trans, researchers say, or about .6% of the country’s population. North Dakota and Iowa have the lowers percentage (.3%), with California and Hawaii having the highest (.8%).

Presumably, the large cities are more hospitable — San Francisco, for example, probably has a higher concentration than Fresno. And while there may not be a ton of trans people in Washington state, for example, Seattle is one of the trans-friendliest cities in the world. (As evidenced by the outpouring of support after a trans person was bashed after a rally; that support probably wouldn’t exist in, say, Texarkana.)
