Penis and Protected Speech
This happened at the University of Delaware, where students had a free speech ball and someone wrote the word penis on the ball. It’s some kind of inflatable ball…I guess…that students write on. Some brilliant student drew a dick and wrote penis, because that’s so much fun to do when you’re paying thousands of dollars for an education. If you do a search for this in photos you’ll get to see what it looks like…and what they look like.
Young Americans for Liberty (YAL), which sponsored the free speech ball last Wednesday through its UDel chapter, announced in a press release that students were approached by a uniformed officer who informed them that some of the content that had been written on the ball—including a drawing of a phallus and the word “penis”—constituted a possible violation of the school’s sexual misconduct policy, and would have to be crossed out or turned into something else.
Chris Helmsworth’s Daughter’s Penis Request
This is actually kind of brilliant, especially compared to what the idiots above at the University of Delaware did with the free speech ball. Helmsworth’s daughter noticed her twin siblings have penises and she said she wanted one, too. His response is wonderful and he sounds like a great dad.
And then he came up with the perfect answer.
“…I was like, ‘You know what? You can be whatever you want to be,” he said.
The Nude Donald Trump Painting
This is interesting and I didn’t think I’d be positing about it. I’ve seen this nude painting of Trump floating around “the Facebook” and I thought it was a little over the top. It’s a rather amateur caricature of Trump and those who hate Trump love it.
In any event, here’s what’s happening with this one:
The artist behind the “imaginary” nude of Donald Trump has been threatened with legal action if she sells the painting, which depicts the Republican candidate with a small penis. Illma Gore, whose portrait now hangs at the Maddox Gallery in Mayfair, was left stunned following the anonymous filing of a threat to sue her under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
The artist plans to stand her ground…as you would imagine.
What I find even more interesting is that if any male artist had painted a caricature of Hillary Clinton in the nude, with an exaggerated vagina, he would have been slammed from one end of the Internet to the other, and branded a misogynist.
