Calling Someone A Homophobe Is Defamation
Evidently, you could get into trouble in France if you call someone a homophobe. And it could cost you, too.
Laure Pora, formerly president of the Paris branch of the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power (ACT UP), was ordered by the Cour d’Appeal to pay €800 to anti-LGBTI group La Manif pour tous.
She also has to pay the judicial cost of €1,500.
I’m not sure how I feel about this one yet.
Drag Race’s Lucian Piane Gets Political
I have no idea who Lucian Piane even is, but I’m assuming Piane is an entertainer, or at least involved in entertainment somehow. I really don’t know much about politics, but this is something I hate to see someone with a public profile do. And if you’re going to get political, at least do it in an informed, intelligent manner…in a teachable way.
RuPaul’s Drag Race star Lucian Piane has gone on a reckless, scorched Earth Twitter rampage.
In it he accuses Bill and Hillary Clinton and President Obama of being murderers.
He also calls First Lady Michelle Obama ‘an idiot’ and claims Hillary Clinton has Parkinson’s.
There’s more here. It all happened on Twitter, as usual, and he even gets into his sex life.
Cardinal Issues Anus Apology
A cardinal, Norberto Rivera Carrera, recently apologized for stating that a man’s anus is not designed to “receive” anal sex. This all has to do with same sex marriage in Mexico, and the complications involved. There’s been a lot going on lately.
In June, Mexico’s Supreme Court said every civil state authority should ‘recognize marriage as a human right and that people can enter into marriage without any kind of discrimination’.
However, the ruling was not legally binding for all states. This has led to protests in multiple cities across the country from homophobic groups speaking out against marriage equality.
You can read more here. He did offer an apology, and it sounds sincere. But the reader comments aren’t giving him any slack with this one. And I can’t blame them.
