California Bans Funded Travel To Anti-Gay States
California is now banning state funded travel to certain states within the US, which I’m assuming means for business.
Assembly Bill 1887, sponsored by Equality California and the National Center for Lesbian Rights, states: ‘California must take action to avoid supporting or financing discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.’
The new law prohibits a state agency, department, board, or commission from requiring any state employees to travel to a state with laws discriminating against LGBTI people.
The article mentions more about which states are banned and how it might affect them. There’s an interesting quote from NC’s Governor-elect.
Offensive Comedy Sketch of Gay Man In Nigeria
There’s an offensive comedy sketch in Nigeria of a gay man being abused, and it’s gone viral.
Posted by comedian Ogusbaba, who stars as an effeminate gay man, the video starts off with Ogusbaba on his phone in bed.
A man played by actor Stephen Odimgbe, knocks on the door and Ogusbaba excitedly invites him in: ‘I’ve come to fulfil the promise that I made that this night is going to delight,’ Odimgbe says.
You can read more here, and watch the video. I watched it in full. This is pretty bad comedy. And I don’t think I’m being too PC by saying that. I also wonder how much of this was intended for pure shock value. After all, it did go viral and I don’t believe people do these things by mistake.
