Butt Magazine Cultural Legacy
I have no idea what Butt Magazine is about, but here’s a piece that talks about how it relates to gay culture through a new documentary titled, After Butt.
BUTT ran quarterly from 2001 through 2011 and helped an entire generation define just what it means to be gay. It was sort of a half lifestyle, half porn zine, known for it’s iconic pink pages, candid interviews, and, well, lots of amateur photos of dudes’ butts.
Here’s more. I probably should know more about this because I used to write a lot of short stories for several European magazine publishers in the 90s and 2000s. Butt Magazine came from Amsterdam and that’s one I never worked with.
Should Wikipedia Change “LGBT” to “LGBTQ”
I have to admit that I probably would have felt differently about this 5 or 10 years ago. I don’t identify as “queer” and I don’t want anyone telling me I have to identify as “queer.” However, I’ve learned a lot in the last few years about how all people identify thanks to all the other letters they want to add to LGBT, and I now understand that it’s all about who falls under the umbrella. In other words, I don’t have to identify as “queer,” and that’s fine. And someone else who does identify as “queer” is fine, too. It took me a while to get that. So now I obviously don’t have any problem with anyone using LGBTQ. I don’t have a problem adding other letters either, namely something like asexual.
But the entire topic is causing a stir in other places.
You can check this out here. There’s a poll at the end and I’m actually a little shocked to see how many don’t want to change it to LGBTQ. I would have guessed otherwise.
Believing Male Victims of Sex Assault
I see something like this almost every day on social media and it makes me livid. Men can be, and are, sexual assault victims, too.
Here’s more. No means no, and men who are victims of sexual assault deserve the same respect as women.
