Trevor Donovan Photo
Last weekend I shared a link that Trevor Donovan posted on facebook and a lot of my FB friends didn’t know who he was. So I thought I’d post something about him. If for no other reason than he doesn’t come off on social media looking like so many other celebrities I come across. He actually does interact with his fans, and he even holds contests and give-aways on Saturday mornings. You don’t find that often with celebrities on social media. Most of the time it’s forced publicity that’s coming from the celebrity’s publicist, or assistant.
In any event, these are the basics about Trevor Donovan:
Donovan was born in Bishop, California and raised in Mammoth, California. He had short stints in 2007 on the NBC daytime soap Days of our Lives as Jeremy Horton. He had a minor role in the 2009 sci-fi film Surrogates playing the Surrogate form of Tom Greer (Bruce Willis).
Donovan landed a recurring role on 90210 as Teddy Montgomery, first appearing on September 8, 2009. On May 20, 2010, The CW announced that he was upgraded to series regular.[6] It was later reported that his character would come out as gay in the third season, which premiered on September 13, 2010.

As noted above, he has played a gay character and he’s commented on that role in several places.
After 14 episodes, Teddy Montgomery (Trevor Donovan) is finally coming out to his friends 90210‘s Feb. 7 episode, titled “About A Boy.” But Trevor tells HollywoodLife.com the celebration will be short-lived, as Teddy’s life is about to get a lot more complicated. On his FB page he’s always welcoming and open to all his gay male fans, at least from what I’ve observed so far.
If you check out his IMDb page here you’ll find a long and interesting resume. He’s a career actor and he has a bachelors degree in graphic design.
You can do a simple search and his name will come up in many places, and I would be remiss as a blogger if I didn’t mention there are nude photos of him at the OMG blog. You can check them out here. These aren’t graphic and they have a more artistic appeal than most nude male photos. In fact, there’s nothing trashy about Trevor Donovan or his photos. And I found the photo at the bottom of the page the most interesting. It’s a pose you don’t see very often. I wish I could post it, but the copyright police is everywhere these days.

Is Bill and Ted Show Homophobic?
There’s a live show at Universal’s live theme park that some are calling homophobic. It’s allegedly a parody…a take off…on the infamous Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, a cult classic I’ve always loved that’s running for Halloween, titled, Halloween Horror Nights.
Here’s a more in-depth explanation:
I understand parody better than a lot of people because I’ve written full length novel parodies that are take offs on heteronormative romance films like An Officer and His Gentleman, and Pretty Man. I did them on purpose, with full disclosure, in spite of taking a lot of flack from some reviewers. One book reviewer who calls herself/himself “Sirius” wrote this:
If you seen the movie Officer and the gentleman, that means you know the plot of this story with a few minor differences and of course second lead is now a guy. I totally understand if the author wants to pay homage to classical theme, but this is something else as far as I am concerned.
Well it is something else. It’s a parody. It’s not paying homage to anything or anything heteronormative. I’m not even that fond of the movie. But in all fairness, I can’t blame “Sirius” because I’ve read other reviews written by him/her and he/she obviously doesn’t get gay humor or satire. This is one of the pitfalls of being an openly gay author nowadays…you learn to take it in your stride. However, as a blogger I think it’s okay for me to warn readers against any reviews this “Sirius” writes because as a gay man I don’t find them very authentic. And I’m speaking strictly as a blogger now, not an author.
But I don’t have any regrets about my parodies because this parody on Bill and Ted where they turn Superman into a flaming gay queen and parody all aspects of what it is to be a gay man has been done by straight Hollywood since the beginning of film, and I wanted to get my shot at it with my own brand of straight parody. What’s fair is fair.
The thing that I think separates this Universal show from other more offensive gay parodies is that this time they are allegedly parodying everyone, including other minorities. I haven’t seen it so I can’t comment any further.

Neil Patrick Harris at Halloween
Now, you can travel far and wide, you can read as many m/m romances as you want, but it’s going to be hard to find anything more heteronormative than this photo of Neil Patrick Harris and his husband, David Burtka, posing with their two children in Halloween costumes.

Even though I honestly cannot relate to photos like this as a gay man, I actually think it’s very nice, and I also think it’s perfectly normal to see things progressing this way for gay men/couples. In other words, now that gay marriage has been accepted in so many places, and gay people are getting equal rights, it’s completely natural that gay people like Neil Patrick Harris and his husband would embrace heteronormativity. People like to be normal and to be accepted.
What I do find interesting is that Tony and I have tons of straight nieces and nephews who are new adults and single and none of them are even remotely thinking about marriage, family, or anything that is heteronormative. Nowadays younger straight people are opting to live together, buy property together, and have families together without the benefit of marriage more often than not.
And it is a little ironic that Neil Patrick Harris and husband are posing like Ozzie and Harriet from the 1950’s.
