Trevor Donovan In Million Dollar Quartet

There’s an 8 episode mini-series coming up on CMT titled, Million Dollar Quartet, that’s based on the Broadway show. One of the stars is Trevor Donovan…many of you know him as “Teddy” from 90210. He also starred in an Amish romance I loved titled, Love Finds You In Charm.

Produced by Leslie Greif and directed by Roland Joffé, Million Dollar Quartet is a period drama timed to the historic 60th anniversary of the famous recording sessions featuring icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. Donovan will play Eddy Arnold, one of the most popular country artists of all time and and one of the first to find crossover success in pop.

You can read more here, and I’ll post more information as it becomes available.  I follow Donovan on social media and he’s pretty good about details.

I personally love that entire era, and I even set one of my books during that time period, which I titled, Take Me Always. And I set The Arrangement, (link below) in the early 1960s. A good deal of that era revolved around the music, so this new mini-series looks like it could be really good.

Here’s a link to more about Eddy Arnold.

Secrets From the Golden Girls

There haven’t been many television shows that have managed to maintain quite the same popularity as The Golden Girls. I think it began in 1985, ran about six seasons, and it’s been going strong in reruns ever since. I remember one night when my nephew was very young and we were watching a rerun on vacation. We weren’t even paying attention to it, until we saw my nephew laughing hysterically. I think he was only about six years old at the time.

So anything about the history of TV shows like that is perfect clickbait. According to a new “tell-all” book, Bea Arthur wanted to quit the show on several occasions.

A new Golden Girls tell-all (because the world needs such things) reveals that life on set of the iconic seven-season show could be just as bumpy as the characters’ scripted mishaps.

The biggest bombshell in Golden Girls Forever: An Unauthorized Look Behind The Lanai is that Bea Arthur, who played Dorothy, wanted to quit the show on numerous occasions (Secret #1, if you’re counting).

The book’s author, Jim Colucci, says it had a lot to do with what the show’s writers called “Dorothy bashing.”

You can read a few more secrets here. I think with books like this it’s always more about getting the information, even if we know some of it already. Just hearing it again, for some weird reason, is satisfying.

New HIV Treatment: Descovy

It’s always good news to hear that there’s another new drug on the market for treating HIV.

Gilead Sciences, Inc. today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Descovy (emtricitabine 200 mg/tenofovir alafenamide 25 mg, F/TAF), a fixed-dose combination for the treatment of HIV. Descovy is indicated in combination with other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and pediatric patients 12 years of age and older.

You can read more about this here.

They make it clear this is NOT a PrEP regimen.  If you read the comments, several people added some information. I never comment about things like this because I’m not a doctor, so please refer all questions to your medical doctor when it comes to anything health related and don’t pay attention to what you read on comment threads.
