LGBT Rights Not Human Rights

A New Jersey Republican Representative, Chris Smith, thinks gay rights are not human rights. He slams the Obama administration on LGBT rights because he thinks this is blocking success in battling Boko Haram in Nigeria.

‘I am a strong believer in traditional marriage and I do not construe homosexual rights as human rights,’ the New Jersey Republican said, according PolitickerNJ. 

You can read the rest here. We get most NJ news here in New Hope and I’ve never even heard of him. But frankly, speaking as an independent voter, this is why you good Republicans will probably lose the general election once again in 2016. You just don’t resonate with the majority of the public…or public opinion. At least not according to polls. It’s time to get the act together and rid yourselves of the Chris Smith’s of the world. Seriously. This is the kind of thing that’s going to look very bad fifty years from now.

Jim Parsons Is God

Openly gay actor, Jim Parsons, who has been making us laugh in The Big Bang for longer than I can remember, is going to be playing God…in the play, An Act of God.

The four-time Emmy winner is set to return to Broadway in An Act of God based on the 2011 book The Last Testament: A Memoir By God written by David Javerbaum of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. 

Javerbaum runs the popular satirical Twitter account @TheTweetOfGod and sent out a statement released from ‘God.’ 

‘I chose Jim to play Me because I relish the irony of telling the real story of the Six Days of Creation through the star of The Big Bang Theory. Plus, he’s funny.’

As a side note, I think it’s interesting they mention the satirical Twitter account. For some reason, lately I’ve been noticing a lot of lesser known celebrities have these “parody” or “satirical” accounts, and now I’m wondering who else has them. I’m not mentioning names because the celebrities that have the fake accounts are parodying other celebrities, not themselves. It’s funny; it’s vicious; it’s furtive and it’s interesting to see how transparent they actually are. And when I say transparent I’m not joking around. If Joe Doe C-list celebrity’s name keeps popping up with comments and retweets on the parody account of A-lister celebrity, you know there’s a connection. The C-lister celeb isn’t fooling anyone. The only reason I’m mentioning it is because I’m starting to think we should all be doing this. Why not? Twitter doesn’t seem to mind. The most redeeming fact about all this is that the parody accounts never seem to have more than a few hundred followers.

Soccer Star’s Anti-Trans Tweets

Soccer star, Robert Huth, received a two match ban because he allegedly tweeted anti-trans slurs.

The Stoke City defender admitted he breached Football Association rules after comments he made on social media. 

In January earlier this year, he responded to a Twitter account ‘Cock Or No Cock’ which posts sexual images of individuals and asks users to guess their gender. 

The 30-year-old German apologized, saying: ‘Clearly no offence was meant or directed to anyone, but apologies if I’ve offended anyone.’ 

He was also fined and asked to complete a course of some kind. The rest is here. 

I think it’s interesting because we’re finally recognizing trans people and their feelings. Even though Huth’s intentions don’t sound as if they were meant to be cruel, he owned up to it and took full responsibility.

I can’t say the same about some of the comments I’ve been seeing around the web on the topic of drag queens vs feminism. But I think we’ll be hearing more about this in the future. I won’t elaborate at this time. I just like to document these things quickly so when they do happen I can reference back to see if I was right or wrong.
