Anti-Gay Threats Cause Teacher To Quit

Here’s a dismal story about a form of hate/discrimination that’s still happening today.

So when an excellent, deeply committed visual arts and theater teacher in rural Kansas, where recruitment is especially challenging, feels he has no choice but to leave the state after receiving a series of threatening letters about his sexual orientation, that’s hurtful not only to that man and that community, but also to the whole state’s reputation and to its already struggling and under-funded education system.

There’s more, here. There are quotes from some of the letters this teacher received, and they are filled with pejoratives and homophobic slurs.

The police are investigating.

Canada Boosts LGBTI Businesses

Here’s something positive on the global front.

Francois-Philippe Champagne, Canada’s Minister of International Trade, announced on 21 April that Canada will support a new trade mission to bolster groups that have historically been ignored. Groups included are the LGBTI community, Canada’s Indigenous population, and women.

Trans Model After Two Years On Testosterone

I’m always curious about this. I know a lot about trans women because I’ve known many trans women over the years here in New Hope. But I honestly don’t know much about trans men.

Alex Bertie is a prominent English YouTuber with over 300,000 subscribers. As of today, he’s been on testosterone for two years on his journey as a trans man.
