Research On Africa and Homophobia
Here’s an article that gets into research with regard to Africa and homophobia. According to this, it’s not as rampant as you might imagine.
A quick Google search of the words “Africa” and “homophobia” will return headlines like “Why Africa is a hotbed of homophobia” and “Why Africa is turning anti-gay.” Last Friday, the Other Foundation released preliminary findings from the first nationally representative survey of South African attitudes toward homosexuality and gender non-conformity. The results challenge these stereotypes of Africans’ feelings toward LGBTQ people.

The research tries to dispute some of the stereotypes, and mentions that same sex marriage has been legal in South Africa for a decade or so.
Mexico Rallies On Marriage Equality
There have been a number of rallies in Mexico, both for and against marriage equality, and it sounds as if it’s been intense. So, those of you who think the fight is over, think again.
One unnamed 12-year-old boy attempted to stop one of the anti-same-sex marches in Celaya, Guanajuato because he has a gay uncle, he told journalist Manuel Rodriguez, who took the photo that went viral.

According to wiki, it’s a lot more complicated. Same sex marriage is legal in Mexico but they are actually still fighting over whether or not it should be allowed.
But big demonstrations across the country in recent days show that, politically at least, the issue of same-sex marriage is far from settled.
Thousands of people marched throughout the country this past Saturday to protest President Enrique Pena Nieto’s initiative to legalize gay marriage. Counter-protesters came out in force, too.
Twitter Feud Between Coco Montrese and Roxxxy Andrews
I know nothing about this at all so if I spelled their unusual names wrong, it was purely by accident. I think I put all the X’s in Roxxxxy.
As we prepare for tonight’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 2, Coco Montrese and Roxxxy Andrews are slamming each other in a series of direct tweets and passive aggressive hashtags. The reason for the harsh exchange of words? Coco seems to still be upset that Roxxxy sent her home on the first episode of All Stars Season 2.
I suppose it’s all in good fun, and it is pop culture. It just seems kind of mundane, if not diminishing, when you compare it to what’s going on Mexico right now.
However, it does prove just how diverse the gay community really is. Here’s the rest.
