Seton Hall Priest Fired For Gay Support

For those who aren’t from the Northern New Jersey, New York area, Seton Hall University is a large Catholic institution located in South Orange, New Jersey. Most of my family members actually went there and graduated, some with graduate degrees. In fact, my family wanted me to go there when I graduated from high school. However, after twelve long years of Catholic school, and having my ear pulled, and having to deal with the Catholic POV on every topic (they expect/teach you to think the way they do), I’d had enough of them and their religion and I opted for Fairleigh Dickinson University where there were no religious affiliations…at all. I have no regrets, especially after reading this article.

Reverend Warren Hall, who used to work at Seton Hall University in New Jersey, posted a message on Facebook supporting the NO H8  campaign.

‘I’ve been fired from SHU for posting a pic on FB supporting LGBT “NO H8”,’ he said on Twitter.

‘I’m sorry it was met with this response. I’ll miss my work here.

There’s more here.  There are comments that sound more hurt than angry.

Gay Guys and Cheating

Here’s an interesting article about cheating while in a relationship. Of course we all know this is NOT limited to gay people. It’s everyone, and it’s everywhere, but some gay men have taken to Whisper to talk about their experiences. Frankly, I think there’s something wrong with these guys.

And if we’re going to get real about it, monogamy isn’t a ship built for everyone, but our culture almost demands it. The real problem isn’t non-monogamy, it’s non-communication. We’re afraid to talk to our partners and afraid to be truthful with ourselves, and the secrets and lies are the poison that can eventually kill the love shared between two people.

You can read the rest here. Here’s one:

I cheated on my boyfriend and after I was done I texted him “I love you” like nothing happened. We’re gay.

I still think some things are better off left unsaid.

Bruce Jenner’s Unanswered Words

I actually did watch the Diane Sawyer and Bruce Jenner interview and I think I know exactly what this next article is talking about.

Many who tuned in to the Diane Sawyer interview with Bruce Jenner were left feeling a little puzzled and uneasy, including Sawyer and Jenner, it seemed. What is Jenner’s new name? Should we use female pronouns? When will the transition take place? Perhaps the biggest source of puzzlement for many viewers was watching Sawyer’s failed attempts to attach easy labels to Jenner’s sexuality. If Jenner identifies as a woman, does that automatically mean the thrice-married Olympic star also identifies as a lesbian? Sawyer kept respectfully insisting on clear and unambiguous definitions, and Jenner kept resisting.

Basically, there are no simple answers. It’s a very long article that I’m not even going to attempt to explain in this short post. But I do suggest reading it. I found a few of the answers I was looking for. Mainly…it’s complicated.

I do think that Diane Sawyer handled the interview well. In the sense that she chose her words with care so as not to offend anyone. I try to do that all the time when I’m posting about topics like this because I’m not always certain what will, or will not, offend someone. I don’t think that’s a matter of being too PC. I just think it’s giving the benefit of the doubt, and decorum.

And then there are the comments. You’ve been warned 🙂

The Virgin Billionaire Series by Ryan Field

Here’s an Amazon link to my Virgin Billionaire series. There are ten books (full novels) in the series, and unfortunately Amazon didn’t give me a full page for the series alone. Amazon does this all the time. But you can see which books are from my series, clearly. All of these books are stand alones and you don’t have to read them in consecutive order. The first book in the series is “The Virgin Billionaire.”

Review for The Virgin Billionaire:

The Virgin Billionaire was an awesome book. Jase is trying to find himself so he more or less leaves his old life and starts over again In New York City. There he meets Luis a rent boy who is his next door neighbor. Jase has never been with another man in his life. He seems to be searching for something but not sure at first what it is he his searching for.. I laughed and I cried while reading this book. Ryan portrayed the characters as real people in real situations.. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series
