Excellent Gay Film: Holding the Man
I caught this on netflix the other night and really enjoyed it. Once again, thanks to netflix’s inability to execute a decent movie description. Had I not taken a chance and put it on, just based on the one little blurb they gave, I would have missed an excellent movie. Netflix really needs to step up the game a little. Hire some of these millennials.
In any event, this is from wiki…
Holding the Man is a 2015 Australian romantic drama film adapted from Timothy Conigrave‘s 1995 memoir of the same name. It was directed by Neil Armfield and stars Ryan Corr and Craig Stott, with supporting performances from Guy Pearce, Anthony LaPaglia, Sarah Snook, Kerry Fox and Geoffrey Rush. The screenplay was written by Tommy Murphy who also adapted the memoir for the stage play.
As I said above, the story line in Holding the Man was excellent and it takes place during a time when legalized gay marriage did not exist and gay couples had absolutely no rights at all. It was almost exactly around the time that President Bill Clinton signed DOMA, which was one of the worst things that ever happened to equal rights and basically stalled legalized gay marriage for almost two decades. I was there for that one. I remember it well, first hand.
I felt particularly close to the general story line because I went through similar hospitalizations with my husband in 2007, which I posted about here once before. I’ll never forget carrying legal the power of attorney papers with me at all times so no one would screw around with me.
Side note: Holding the Man is a romantic drama, not a romance. There’s a huge, distinct difference between the two.
London’s Oral Sex Cafe
When I saw this on social media yesterday I had to check it out. There’s going to be a coffee shop in London where they give oral sex to men.
According to the Evening Standard, the small business owner is teaming up with the app BumPix to launch a coffee shop where escorts-turned-baristas administer oral sex on male customers as they sip their morning espressos.
For those of you who are like me and are wondering if this is legal, the owner says they found a loophole and they’re working on it right now. I can’t wait to see what THAT is.
You can read more here. It’s focused on straight men right now, but they might be doing something for gay men soon, too…because they love the gays so much.
Y’all know that I’m no prude, but I think this is one of the most dismal things I’ve heard in ages.
Orlando Bloom’s Full Frontal Nudity Dick Pics
I don’t know how anyone could have missed this trending yesterday. I saw it on Twitter first thing in the morning and blinked. It has nothing at all to do with full frontal nudity in movies. This is about Orlando Bloom going on vacation and being photographed in the nude.
The photo first surfaced on the cover of the U.K.’s Daily Star. It shows the 39-year-old kneeling on a paddleboard, revealing every bare inch of his perfectly sculpted body. The most important part of image was censored, however, which led to a frantic search on Twitter for the uncensored versions.
You can check this out, and find the uncensored versions, here. I saw them on Twitter and they’re worth a glance or two.
