Mayor of West Hollywood, Again; Taron Egerton Playing Gay Face In Rocketman Trailer; Kenya Awaits Ruling On Decriminalizing Gay Sex; Uncertainty by Ryan Field

Mayor of West Hollywood, Again

Here’s another story about the mayor of West Hollwyood, John Duran, and this one is about alleged racism. I’ve already linked to something about how he’s been accused of ‘inappropriate behavior’ with members of the Gay Men’s Chorus in LA, however, while defending himself with the WeHo Times he got into even more trouble with comments he made about one of the guys who accused him.
Duran claims he never heard of the guy, and said this…
“I looked him up on Facebook and, of course, he’s a skinny Korean kid with pimples on his cheek,” he said. “Look at this guy. It’s just not happening. It’s not credible.”
Here’s the rest. Interesting.

Taron Egerton Playing Gay Face In Rocketman Trailer

Taron Egerton, like Rami Malek in Bohemian, is a straight actor playing gay face in the new Elton John movie, Rocektman. And he recently commented about what it’s like to play a gay sex scene.
Egerton has spoken — twice — about filming a gay sex scene with Madden. It was his first sex scene and he described it as ‘quite physical’.

‘I feel that the movie we’ve shot is absolutely a celebration of everything that Elton John is, and part of that is his sexuality,’ he continued.
Here’s the link to see the trailer.

And here’s a link to an earlier post about Egerton playing gay face in Rocketman. He thinks we’re (gay people) going to be quite surprised by how ‘gay it feels.’

Kenya Awaits Ruling On Decriminalizing Gay Sex
Here’s what’s happening on the global front in Kenya, where gay sex is still considered a crime, with a very steep punishment.
Twenty-eight-year-old Kasanda is one of thousands of gay Kenyans hoping judges will strike down a colonial-era law punishing consensual same-sex relationships by 14 years in jail.
You can read more about this, here. According to this, the ruling is set for Friday. I’ll look for follow ups on this one.

Amazon Reader Reviews: “Duty or Love? That is the hard choice that Gus’s surviving dad, Henry, is trying to decide. This story revolves around a beautiful family that’s hit some hard times. You hope beyond hope alongside with Gus that Henry will choose love, no matter what.”

Uncertainty by [Field, Ryan]

When Gus Baldwin realizes that his gay dad is serious about marrying a much older man for safety and security instead of love, he concocts a plot that he hopes will change his dad’s mind. Even though his other dad has been dead for over a year, Gus wants his surviving dad to find love and happiness someday with a new husband.

However, their financial situation is about as bad as it gets and they’re on the brink of losing their grand old Victorian home, and everything about their perfect lives is threatened. So Gus winds up putting his own marriage on hold with the guy he’s been in love with since high school. It’s so bad he’s even thinking of quitting college to help support his dad and his younger brother just so his dad won’t have to marry the older man.

After Gus convinces his dad to take a road trip in their vintage 1950s station wagon to their getaway cabin in the mountains, along with his younger brother, his future husband, and their nineteen year old dog named Special, their lives change in ways none of them ever anticipated. And even though the future is still uncertain in some respects, they discover a few things about themselves on this trip they never could have predicted.
