Another Gay Venue In London Closes

Here’s yet another causality in the gay bar wars. 

‘It is with great sadness that as of today Her Upstairs is no longer open for business at 18 Kentish Town Road,’ they wrote. It is unclear why the space had to close and the post reveals they cannot explain further for ‘legal reasons’.

Here’s the rest. I hate to see it close. I hate to see all of them close. I met my husband, Tony, in a gay bar in the 90s. Of course I don’t know the story behind why this one is closing, but I get really annoyed when they start talking about how vital these places are to the gay community. If they were that vital they wouldn’t be closing and they’d be thriving like they were back in the day. You don’t have to be a genius to figure that out.
