7 New Gay TV Couples

When you’re gay and all you have to watch on TV are straight couples, and straight story lines, it can get a little boring sometimes. Gay people are used to it, but it does get boring.

We all like to identify with characters, even gay people. And once in a while it’s nice to see some gay content, but that doesn’t happen very often.

It doesn’t have to be a huge gay story line like the Harvey Milk movie or even Brokeback Mountain. Sometimes just one gay character in a story line, as part of normal life, makes a huge difference. Unfortunately, that’s not easy to find on TV. At least not until recently.

Someone put together a list of 7 gay characters on TV.

You can check that out, here. They mention Sex Education on Netflix, which I’ve been watching all week. It’s very good, and funny.

Russell Tovey in The Pass

I know I’ve posted (and raved) about Russell Tovey in The Pass. But here’s something else about it.

It’s a great movie, but it starts out very slowly. You won’t be sure where it’s going, which I liked. But once you reach the end it moves quickly. And Tovey can act! He’s very comfortable with the camera.

No spoilers.

Here’s the link to this one. They list several other movies as well. I haven’t seen the others yet.

Amazon Removes LGBTI Documentary

We’ve been watching a lot of Amazon Prime lately. They have a huge selection of LGBTI movies, much larger than Netflix or anyone else. But I haven’t seen anything about this documentary.

According to this article, the documentary, Words, was allegedly removed for offensive content.

This, below, is from a tweet by AJ Mattioli, trans filmmaker. has taken down my film Words saying it is offensive. This is an #LGBTQ+ film with straight allies discussing identity and self acceptance.

Here’s the link. I can’t comment because I didn’t see it.

The one thing I don’t always understand is that Amazon Prime will put a movie into the “gay” category, but there’s nothing “gay” about it. We tried to watch one movie that was about prison inmates that we found in the gay category, but there was no gay content (and no gay characters). We never finished watching it. And that’s not the first time that’s happened. I think they need to figure out the definition of “Gay” in order to categorize their films a little better on Amazon. Cuz someone’s not getting it right over there.

I read a lot of Ryan’s books, but really loved this one. The main character reminded me of someone… read it and see.
