Should We Blame Facebook For Fake News?
If you’re like me, you’ve run across more than a few fake news stories on Facebook. Some people share them innocently without realizing it. It’s hard to blame them. I’ve been guilty of that myself…not recently, but I’ve done it by accident and learned my lesson.
I actually have seen a few people do it on purpose for laughs.
In any event, the fact remains a lot of what you see on Facebook (and other social media) isn’t true. And here’s a link to an article about how Mark Zuckerberg is addressing the fake news stories on Facebook.
Zuckerberg outlined seven projects his company is working on that could undermine fake news stories. The approaches range from consulting with journalists and fact-checking organizations to disrupting the flow of money in the often-lucrative online fake news business.
“We are raising the bar for stories that appear in related articles under links in News Feed,” Zuckerberg wrote of one initiative. Of another, he said, “A lot of misinformation is driven by financially motivated spam. We’re looking into disrupting the economics with ads policies like the one we announced earlier this week, and better ad farm detection.”
I don’t blame Zuckerberg for this one. And I’m glad he’s trying to do something about it.
I think the best we can all do is make sure we get the news accurate if we’re going to share it. You can call it out as fake if you see it, but the problem with that is that people will defend it and no one wants to get into a flame war on social media.
50 Biggest Dating Turn Offs
A lot of this is pretty boilerplate, but some of them are interesting.
2,000 single people recently participated in a survey conducted by the e-cigarette brand Blu about their top 50 turn-offs in a potential mate. Not surprisingly, body odor is the #1 reason people avoided any follow-up dates, with almost three-quarters of participants saying it was a deal-breaker. So shower up, fellas!
Hot Future Doctors Do A Magic Mike Strip Down
Here’s a link to a video of guys in med school who do a Magic Mike parody of sorts. It’s actually very well done.
In the following video, future doctors of Portugal proudly slip out of their lab coats to reveal taut physiques and a talent for sensuously pouring water all over themselves in this tribute to Magic Mike.
You can watch the video here. This one is SFW.
