Anti-Gay Islamic Police Raid Gay Wedding In Nigeria

Countries in Africa and the Middle East with religious influences (it could be any religion, not just Muslim) are notoriously anti-gay. This story happened in Nigeria where both Muslim and Christians are anti-gay.

Someone tipped police off that gay Muslim men were attending a gay wedding in the city of Kano and the police wound up arresting 19 Muslims. Thankfully, during the raid, the gay couple getting married fled the scene.

Being gay is illegal in places like this and Kano has an Islamic police force that is only too willing to go after anything gay related. Here’s a direct quote about how backward these people are. They still believe being gay is a lifestyle and a choice rather than genetics.

“We’ll explore the avenue of change before we charge them in court. First we counsel them, and involve the parents and we hope they change their lifestyle,” the Hisbah spokesman said.

Here’s the rest. Sounds a lot like the reparation therapy that happens here in the US in certain states, only with Christians. I feel bad for any gay person who has to experience this.

Uncertainty on Amazon

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no-nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”
