Supreme Court Associate Justice Amy Coney Barrett Should Recuse Herself with Regard to LGBTQ Issues

After what happened with the reversal of Roe vs Wade, I think that most people don’t trust this particular SCOTUS any longer. We are done. To take a ruling that had been in place for years and years and then reverse it speaks loudly, in volumes we’ve never seen before in this country. They really did set us back years.

With that said, there is another case coming up regarding a web designer who refused to take on gay clients who want wedding websites. Because of her ties to Christians and religion, Amy Cony Barrett is being asked to recuse herself. She’s been linked to a group called “People of Praise.”

This is what a former member of People of Praise said. Her name is Maureen Sullivan and she was actually raised in this religious group. It wasn’t until she came out as bisexual at 19 years old did she leave. Her family eventually left the group, too.

“I don’t believe that someone in her position, who is a member of this group, could put those biases aside, especially in a decision like the one coming up,”

Here’s more. The thing I will never understand is that I don’t think I know anyone who’s LGBTQ who wants to take away the religious rights and freedoms of any “Christian.” Yet that’s all they want to do to us. To be honest, even though I know it’s discrimination, I would never want to work with the owner of a website company that refused to work on my gay wedding. I want nothing to do with people like that.
