The US Is Not a Democracy, Ryan Field Books

The US Is Not a Democracy

This is about as political as I’ll ever get here on this website. I really don’t like politics much. I focus more on social issues…like LGBTQ rights. And of course, I lean more to the left than the right. I just don’t like the vitriol involved in politics.

With that said, I’m now linking to an article that discusses the electoral college and why the US is not a Democracy. It’s bipartisan and this is something we should all know and understand. The US is, and always has been a Constitutional Republic. And it amazes me that people don’t know this. I see the most poorly informed on Twitter screaming, “but our democracy, our democracy,” all the time. The media does it, too.

The United States has never been a democracy, defined by freedom and equality for all. But nor has there ever been a time when people did not struggle toward a democratic future, dreaming of freedom, risking life and limb to make those dreams manifest, and creating a more just society along the way.

Here’s more. It’s a good article and most of all it’s informative.

And here is another good article that explains why the US is a Constitutional Republic.

Madison realised the problems that plagued direct democracies and instead sought to establish a Constitutional Republic.

What readers are saying about “Uncertainty”

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no-nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”
