Was Danny Kaye Gay? Ryan Field Books

 Was Danny Kay Gay?

Hollywood has always been notorious for hiding gay men in the closet. It happened years ago and it’s still happening today. The most interesting thing is that we know. We can now turn on a TV show or film and spot a gay closeted actor within minutes. It’s not that difficult. For one thing, there’s no chemistry with the leading lady. And yet even though gay men can spot other closeted gay men, millions of straight women will fantasize and fetishize these closeted gay men without ever acknowledging that they ARE gay. It’s an interesting mindset and not one that’s good for gay men in general. It’s mentally unhealthy and I wonder how these closeted gay actors can continue to do it.

With that said, here’s a link to an article about Danny Kaye. Was he gay or not?

Is Danny Kaye part of gay history? Of course he is, whether he slept with men or not. (And I think there is more than enough evidence to suggest that he did.) Kaye looks and sounds like a gay man. At a very critical and conservative time in U.S. history and culture, he gave us this very flamboyant style and performances that made it all right, to some degree, to be not-traditionally masculine.”

Here’s more. Danny Kaye could have been bisexual I remember reading one of Shirley MacLaine’s books and she talked about having an affair with Kaye, and she was very candid.

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no-nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”
