Same Sex Marriage Rights Will Remain Secure In Virginia and Why Abortion Is Different From Same Sex Marriage, Ryan Field Books

Same Sex Marriage Rights Will Remain Secure In Virginia

While everyone is worried about same sex marriage rights and this particular SCOTUS, the governor of Virginia recently stated that if SCOTUS were to reverse same sex marriage rights same sex married couples would still be safe in Virginia.

During an interview Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Youngkin gave the impression that same-sex marriage rights would be secure in Virginia regardless of whether Supreme Court reconsiders and reverses its 2015 decision legalizing such unions nationwide.

Here’s more. I know that’s a nice gesture, but this is not just just about love and romance for same sex couples. If this SCOTUS were to reverse its decision we would lose all kinds of federal benefits that straight couples get, plus there are the federal inheritance taxes to consider. Some of you may not know this, but before same sex marriage was legal if a lifelong spouse died the surviving spouse would have to pay inheritance taxes. And those taxes can wipe the surviving spouse out. I’ve see that happen to gay couples first hand.

Why Abortion is Different From Same Sex Marriage

I also still believe that same sex marriage rights are very different from abortion. Here’s an interesting piece from the New York Times explaining why abortion, gun control, and gay marriage are completely different. Plus, people don’t realize that there are also plenty of gay republican same sex couples, too.

Yet there is ample reason to believe that same-sex marriage would have eventually become the law of the land, even if it did not happen last week.
