“We Say Gay” Florida’s Pride Parade Draws Massive Numbers

After that MAGA governor in Florida enforced a bill that basically silences schools from mentioning anything LGBTQ, especially in the lower grades, I’m relieved to see this news. And after the worst of the MAGA crowd started referring to gay people as “groomers,” I’m even happier to see this. The word groomer, in this case, suggests that gay people are trying to turn little straight white kids gay. Which is ridiculous. You don’t turn gay. You are born gay.

But this year’s Florida’s Pride Parade showed those MAGAs that we can come out in numbers, along with our allies.

Florida’s largest annual Pride march returned to St. Petersburg this past weekend for the first time since 2019. This year, however, the celebratory event took on a more activist tone as revelers contended with the lingering coronavirus pandemic, the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, and a new state law limiting LGBTQ classroom instruction.

Here’s more.  I hope that MAGA realizes that we’ve fought worse than this. They don’t seem to understand that we are a lot tougher now than we were 50 years ago. We’ve been fighting all of our lives and we will continue.

A Different Kind of Southern Love Story

What readers are saying about “Uncertainty”

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no-nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”
