Queer as Folk Reboot Reviews, RIP Jeffery Escoffier a Scholar of Gay Theory, Ryan Field Books

 Queer As Folk Reboot Reviews

About 20 years ago, Tony and I had a regular routine on Sundays. We went to tea dance at 5 pm, met up with friends there, then we went out to the local bistro for a quick dinner, and finally we went home to watch Queer as Folk. Aside from the Ellen Show, It was the only gay content on TV back then, and it was good. There were a few actors playing gay for pay, but that was expected back then.

With that said, I’ve been reading the reviews for the new reboot of Queer as Folk and they aren’t very good. I have not seen the show so I can’t comment, but here’s a link to IMDb where you can read a few reviews from actual viewers of the show. I’ve learned to trust reviews like this far more than any so-called “professional” reviews…for books, movies, and TV shows. The book review sites are the worst. You can’t trust them to be honest.

I’m not sure I’ll be watching this new reboot.

RIP Jeffery Escoffier a Scholar of Gay Theory

Jeffery Escoffier was well known for various things. From starting a project called The Gay Alternative that focused on the Gay Activists of Philadelphia, to writing essays, and focusing on the pre-Stonewall history of gay life.

He was also a health official in New York City.

Mr. Escoffier was a leading voice in gay and lesbian scholarship and theory, both as an editor and as an essayist.

Here’s more. It goes into a lot more detail about his life and his work, and there’s a great deal of gay history involved. An amazing man.

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no-nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”
