The MAGA Conservatives in Florida Claim Don’t Say Gay Bill Will Keep Us From “Grooming” Kids

If you haven’t heard the term “grooming” before, I’ll explain it. In this case, it’s not about dog grooming or even personal hygiene habits. This is about the way some of these hideous MAGA people are describing LGBTQIA people. I’ve seen it happen personally, on social media. They also claim the don’t say gay bill in Florida will stop us from “grooming” kids.

This is what child grooming means, and the fact that they are using it on us is despicable:

Child grooming is befriending and establishing an emotional connection with a child, and sometimes the family, to lower the child’s inhibitions with the objective of sexual abuse. Child grooming is also regularly used to lure minors into various illicit businesses such as child trafficking, child prostitution, cybersex trafficking, or the production of child pornography.

Here’s more at Wiki. Yes, MAGA straights are accusing us of doing this. Again, I’ve seen it happen with my own eyes with MAGA straights on Twitter. And they’re so smug about it, and so steeped in their own straight privilege.

And yet they never even consider the fact that they’ve been grooming small gay kids since the beginning of time. Like most people I know, I knew I was gay at about 3 years old. But I grew up pretending to be straight just like most gay people I know. And all that time I was “groomed” into being straight. However, it didn’t work.

And here’s an article about how the MAGAs are referring to the don’t say gay bill as the “Anti-Grooming Bill.” Oh yes, they found a new word and they are running with it.

But in heated debates at school board meetings and in statehouses across the country, the argument they repeatedly put forth is that they are trying to prevent children from being “groomed” — the same term commonly used to describe how sex offenders initiate contact with their victims.
