Disney Allegedly Continues to Fund Backers of the Don’t Say Gay Bill
Apparently, there’s been backlash about Disney and the way they are dealing with the don’t say gay bill in Florida. In spite of the fact that this bill will hurt so many LGBTQ kids, Disney is still funding those politicians who are backing this bill. The interesting thing about this don’t say gay bill is that I remember when I was a kid we didn’t talk about anything “gay” often and the subject was usually avoided, but the topic was not off-limits. We could have talked about it. And I went to Catholic school. But at the time it was a very liberal Catholic school.
The Orlando Sentinel reported that Disney has given money to every single sponsor and co-sponsor of the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, which was passed by Florida’s House of Representatives February 24.
Here’s a link. The former CEO of Disney, Bob Iger, Tweeted that he stands with President Biden and he’s come out publicly against the bill. But the new CEO of Disney, Bob Chapek, only issued a statement that seems to be supporting LGBTQ people, but it contradicts everything about the don’t say gay bill. And now everyone seems to be waiting for Chapek to make his own personal statement. And Chapek seems to be working both ends because he wants to remain neutral.
I think we’ll hear more about this. If you’re in a high-profile position, I’m not sure it’s possible to remain silent or neutral in this day and age. People wind up making their own speculations, right or wrong.
LGBTQ People Stuck in Ukraine and Terrified of Russia
This is so alarming to read. LGBTQ people who are in Ukraine right now are terrified of what Russia might do to them. And with that disgusting Putin’s track record on LGBTQ people, they have every right to be afraid.
Transgender people are having a particularly rough time.
The 31-year-old singer, who is transgender, has a passport that says she is male, the sex assigned to her at birth, and Ukraine has prohibited men of fighting age from leaving the country.
Here’s more. According to this piece, many are sneaking through the woods to reach Poland.
