Gay Mayor In Hyattsville Maryland Found Dead, Ryan Field Books

Gay Mayor In Hyattsville Maryland Found Dead

Here’s a not-so-happy story about an openly gay mayor in Maryland that was found dead. Kevin Ward was only 44 years old and he took office in 2020. I don’t remember posting about him so I guess it didn’t make major news. Usually, whenever a gay person runs for public office it makes the gay presses.

What’s even sadder is that he allegedly died by suicide.

Ward’s body was discovered by police in Fort Marcy, which is a park in McLean, Va., outside Washington, D.C. It’s the same park where police found the body of former Clinton White House counsel Vince Foster, who died by suicide in July of 1993. The park is known as a gay cruising area, according to MTO News.

Here’s more. A family member is saying it was murder. Ward left behind two teenage sons and a husband. I hope they investigate this thoroughly because those cruising parks can be very dangerous places.

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed, and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”
