When Hollywood Studios Married Off Gay Stars To Pass them As Straights

I don’t think this is a surprise to anyone. I think we’re all familiar with the way they covered up Rock Hudson being gay. But there were a lot more. And I also think there are a few today. I could be wrong about this, but every time I look at Ryan Reynolds I see a cute little gay man pretending to be a straight. Only time will tell about that one. But you read it here first. And if he’s not gay there’s no shame anyway.

In any event, here’s an article about gay history that gets deeper into the many gay closeted Hollywood stars.

“We have to remember that a lot of these decisions that were being made, they were economic decisions,” says Tropiano. “It was about a person holding on to their career.”

Here’s more. It goes on to mention that Rudolph Valentino married a lesbian, Jean Aker, and that marriage didn’t last long at all.

Sadly enough the shame still continues to this day. And I can’t fault them. They’re only trying to survive in a highly homophobic world.

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed, and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”
