European Court Declines Pro-Gay Marriage Cake Case

This is one of those stories where a baker decided they would not make a cake for a gay activist who wanted something especially gay written on the top of the cake. It’s really a very harmless cake, too. All they wanted was the cake to be decorated with a Sesame Street theme with Bert and Ernie and writing that said, “Support Gay Marriage.” That’s it. No Tom of Finland photos.

It’s a complicated, long-running case that seems to be frustrating a lot of LGBTQ people. I know I don’t understand why the courts would rule this way. For me, it’s a clear case of another bigoted Christian discriminating against gay people. But then I’m no expert on the law and I’m only concerned about human rights. This is really all based on a legal technicality.

The European Court of Human Rights said the case was inadmissible because activist Gareth Lee had failed to “exhaust domestic remedies” in his case against a Northern Ireland bakery.

Here’s more.  I hope the fight continues just based on human decency. These Christians have been putting us down for ages, literally.

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed, and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”
