Wakefield Pool Pioneer in Gay Adult Content Dies

I really hate the word porn so I didn’t use it in the headline of this post. It’s something straight people tend to use when they aren’t familiar with adult content or smut. Gay people do it, too. It’s just that I don’t like the word because it brings up so many negative associations.

With that said, here’s a piece about the infamous Wakefield Pool who was known for his gay adult content. He decided to do gay adult films after watching something he thought was awful. He started at the bottom, learned the business, and worked his way up.

“I said to my friend, ‘This is the worst, ugliest movie I’ve ever seen!’” Mr. Poole, who died on Oct. 27 at 85, recalled in 2002. “Somebody ought to be able to do something better.”

Here’s more. A lot of creative gay people have done the same thing. I started doing take-offs on hetero movies with gay characters, as gay romance books, because I never had content like that when I was growing up. All books I ever read were for straights. There were no books at all with gay content, especially with sex scenes. Young gay people learned about sex the hard way…on the streets or in the bars.

What readers are saying about “Uncertainty”

Amazon

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed, and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”
