Straight Men Who’ve Been Called Gay for Basic Things

I do think the general point here is that there’s nothing wrong with being called gay. It’s okay to be gay. Unfortunately, many straight people still haven’t realized that.

With that said, the word gay has come a long way in the last 50 years, but in some cases it’s still being used as a pejorative. Of course you don’t see it as often anymore, but it’s still there.

Recently there was a discussion on Reddit where straight men were being called gay for doing the most basic things. Many were appalled at things like this…

“My best friend is vegetarian. He eats cheese and eggs still. Anyway — everyone asks if he’s gay when they learn this. It’s absurd.”

Here’s more. It gets even worse, like buying a white iPhone and cutting a sandwich diagonally. And I know for a fact these things are true. When I was in school if you held your books a certain way you were called gay. They said girls held their books that way.
