Transgender Woman and Army Vet Allegedly Rejected From Multiple Elder Homes, Ryan Field Books

Transgender Woman and Army Very Allegedly Rejected From Multiple Elder Homes,

Here’s an in-depth story about one transwoman’s fight to get into Elder care. But I think it goes deeper and it’s something we all have to worry about. One thing I have seen first hand with older gay friends who’ve gone into assisted living or “elder care.” It’s such a painfully straight environment they wind up going right back into the closet.

Lisa Oakley loved living in Craig, Colorado. Deer roamed the backyard, and every summer, she and a buddy would take her 16-foot camp boat out on the reservoir, where they’d fish for pike and smallmouth bass.

Here’s more. She found it difficult to get into any facilities and she claims they didn’t want her because she was transgender.  The article goes deeper, but it also states that these straights simply do no know how to handle long term elder LGBTQ care. Very scary.

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed, and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”
