Colin Powell and Don't Ask Don't Tell, Ryan Field Books

Colin Powell and Don’t Ask Don’t Tell

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell recently passed away from COVID-19 (he also had cancer) and this article discusses his changing views on Don’t Ask Don’t Tell in the military, and same sex marriage.

In 2010, when President Barack Obama floated the idea of reviewing DADT with an eye to repeal, Powell, by then a private citizen, endorsed the plan. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Joint Chiefs Chairman had said they supported Obama’s proposal.

Here’s more. Powell was mostly a Republican, but not always. He did support Barack Obama in both campaigns, but he was appointed by George H. W. Bush. I was never quite sure where he stood. I think all this shows how we as gay people were used as political pawns so many times.

In any event, may he RIP.

What readers are saying about “Uncertainty”

Amazon

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed, and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”
