I don’t care if Swiss voters support Gay Marriage because it should have been legal a long time ago anyway
This reminds me of when it was such a big deal about whether or not voters in Australia supported gay marriage. They actually allowed average straights to vote on the fate of gay couples. But now it’s happening with Swiss voters.
I don’t care if straight voters anywhere support gay marriage. Mom and pop hetero voters are no concern of mine. I don’t care what they think or what they feel. I never got to vote on whether or not they should marry. I only care that gay marriage is legal. And I only care that the government made it legal. So don’t tell me to celebrate when straight people decide it’s okay for me to marry. That’s an insult.
GENEVA — Cheers rang out, hugs were exchanged and rainbow-colored flags waved overhead across Switzerland as the Swiss resoundingly voted to allow same-sex couples to marry, final results of a nationwide referendum showed Sunday.
Here’s more. The scary thing is that this didn’t pass with 100% of the vote. It only passed with 64% of the vote. I do NOT like the fact that straights are deciding my future. So don’t tell me to celebrate and cheer this one. I’m happy for gay couples there, but I wish it had been done differently.
