Brazil's Homophobia, Hate Crimes, and Barbaric Gang Rape of Gay Men, Ryan Field Books

Brazil’s Homophobia, Hate Crimes, and Barbaric Gang Rape of Gay Men

This is news to me because I never considered Brazil a homophobic country. Tony used to travel there on business all the time and he never mentioned any homophobia. Apparently, there’s quite a bit of homophobia there.

An act of “barbaric” violence where a 22-year-old gay man was gang-raped and tortured has prompted fierce reaction in Brazil and is evidence of a growing tide of hate crime in the country, according to human rights campaigners.

Here’s a link. The article goes into more detail about this incident, plus it mentions that Brazil has one of the most dangerous rates of homophobic hate crimes against LGBTQ people in the world. And sadly, the criminals who commit these acts of hate often go unpunished.

I had no idea.

Don’t Be Afraid of Virginia’s Woolf

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed, and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”
