Ryan O’Connell on Gay Men Bottoming in “Special”

We just finished watching the second season of Ryan O’Connell’s, “Special,”  and I loved it. Unfortunately, it’s also the last season. You can watch both seasons on Netflix and I highly recommend it. I’m sorry there won’t be a third. But that’s what happens to authentic gay content. They will give an Oscar to creepy films with inauthentic gay content that were written and performed by straights like Armie Hammer, but they won’t give the real deal the 3rd season. That’s how it’s always worked. Straight privilege rules.

In any event, Ryan O’Connell tackles the gay sex issue this season, but quietly. There’s nothing too aggressive about it. He just lets you know it’s okay to feel certain things and it’s okay to experience certain fears and worries with regard to gay sex. He also mentions that two gay bottoms don’t always make a great couple. You NEVER hear that when straights write the gay content. Because they don’t know. I think the main point, which is something I have been trying to do with my books for many years, is that there are no set rules to gay sex…just like hetero sex. And that things like bottoming and rimming are all okay.

“I want to take the mystery and shame out of gay sex by depicting it as I’ve experienced it: erotic, humiliating, empowering, funny and intense, all within the same thrust.”

Here’s more. I think he did a great job this season in accomplishing this.

Kid Attacked At School Because He’s Gay

I guess this is still happening, sadly. The aunt of a teenager who was attacked for being gay is speaking out about it.

Showers posted a video of the attack to her Facebook page saying that Chad was attacked because he’s gay.

Here’s the link. The aunt posted a video of this on Facebook. What’s really sad is that the kid allegedly told the principal and a teacher ahead of time that he was being threatened and no one did a thing about it.

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed, and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”
