Chicago Mayor Sued Over Refusing Interviews with White Journalists

I have to admit that whenever I hear a straight journalist interview someone who’s gay, I often cringe a little. Most straight people simply do not understand the first thing about being gay and they never will. With that said, we as gay people have learned to live with it, and simply deal with it, and move on. I think anyone who’s part of a marginalized group learns fast how to live with certain things.

But Mayor Lori Lightfoot of Chicago is taking this all to another level and now she’s being sued for it. She will only be, “exclusively providing one-on-one interviews with journalists of color.” There’s a link to her full statement, here.

Not everyone is pleased, though.

It’s NOT sitting well with Catenacci … who claims Lightfoot’s policy is blatantly discriminatory and a violation of his rights — specifically, Equal Protection under the law. He also thinks it’s a violation of the First Amendment, which guarantees freedom of the press.

You can read it all in full, here. I think it will be interesting to see where this goes.

Don’t Be Afraid of Virginia’s Woolf

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed, and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”
