Openly Gay Police Officer Asks Denver Pride to Reconsider Allowing Police

I didn’t know that Denver was doing the same thing as NYC with regard to discriminating against openly gay police officers by excluding them from Pride events. Now I’m wondering who else is doing this.

As a result, an openly gay cop in Denver decided to write a letter asking Pride organizers to reconsider allowing Police to attend.

“We’ve gone from the Stonewall riots to an age where now we have openly gay police serving on police forces,” he said.

And then he said this:

“We’re a part of the LGBT community, and we’re being ousted by our own,” Hummel said.

Here’s more. I’m still old enough to remember when we didn’t have many openly gay cops anywhere. And now it’s different. We even have openly gay cops of all races. I know several of them myself, personally.

I really don’t know where this is going to end. And I truly am not and never have been an activist. But I’m starting to have this feeling that Pride is not something we all will celebrate in the future. And I hope I’m wrong about that. It would be a shame to see that kind of division. But I don’t see people coming together on this one.

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed, and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”
