Wed: The Myanmar Crisis and LGBTQ People
I feel so strongly about supporting all LGBTQ people across the globe that I try to keep up to date with what’s happening everywhere. It’s not always easy to do because our mainstream media in the US is usually so slanted and so untrustworthy I don’t see half of what’s happening. Thankfully, we have the Internet to offset the crooked media.
In short, there’s been some serious unrest in Myanmar and here’s how it’s affecting LGBTQ people.
Information is scarce about how many LGBTIQ people have been arrested across Myanmar since the coup started and how many are detained. Based on information from LGBTIQ advocates in Myanmar, one member of the community participating in the CDM was shot and killed on March 3 in Mawlamyine city.
