State Parks and Public Restrooms 24 Places Where Gay Men Cruised
I don’t have a problem talking about this. Unlike straight people (and some gay people) I don’t see any point in white-washing the past when Gay men cruised each other. In many cases, they still do. There’s a reason for this and I defy anyone to judge me or any other gay man. And we shouldn’t be apologizing for it either. For one thing, we didn’t get a normal puberty and we didn’t get prom dates like straights. We had to figure out how to meet one another on the down-low.
I could go on and on about this, but I’ll just link to this article that talks about what it was like for gay men to meet and hook up before there were actually hook-up apps.
City parks were once the cruising grounds for gay men. In New York in the 1970s, public parks where places where you could not only find a hot guy but bang him in the bushes too.
Here’s more. There are a few in there I didn’t know about…like barbershops. I never cruised a barbershop.
