Cher Gets Backlash Over George Floyd Tweet

I watched all this unfold last night on Twitter and I can’t say I’m shocked. It’s not the first time Cher has shown her straight white privilege and I am certain it won’t be the last.

It’s just that this time the Tweet was really in such poor taste that it made her look even less aware than usual. The people I saw Tweeting about what she said were genuinely hurt right down to the core.

“Was talking with mom and she said ‘I watched the trial of policeman who killed George Floyd and cried. I said: “Mom, I know this is gonna sound crazy, but..I kept thinking….Maybe if I’d been there,…I could’ve helped,” Cher tweeted.

Here’s more. What’s really a shame about all this is that the mainstream media has always played down things like this about Cher. I don’t know how that works, or why they go silent, but most people don’t even know about the other accusations. In 2014 Cher was sued by a dancer for racial discrimination. You can read more about that one, here.

Yeah, good old Cher. Imagine that. And if you are stanning for Cher and you’re part of her fandom, do me a favor and save your opinions. I’m only sharing the facts, not my opinions. I’m not canceling Cher and I’ll still listen to some of her music. I’d just like to know how she continues to get away with these things.

Once Upon a Castle by Ryan Field

“A wonderful story that I loved. The characters were well developed, and strong. Gus: A sweet young man. Doing something for all the wrong reasons. Craig: his boyfriend, he’ll go along with anything Gus say. Henry: Gus father a no nonsense man, who’s husband died last year. I enjoyed this story.”

“Best Gay Novel In Years. This story will stay with you and you will feel you know every character and the beauty of their home in the mountains of North Carolina.”
